About Us

SOS Sahel Sudan has a long history of operating in Sudan (since 1985) and an accumulated wealth of experience and engagement with communities that it inherited from SOS Sahel International UK. It is the legitimate daughter of the transformation of SOS Sahel International UK into a national NGO and in 2010 SOS Sahel Sudan became an independent, non-profit NGO following its official registration with the Humanitarian Aid Commission (HAC). Its staff, who are all Sudanese nationals, have a deep understanding of the context of Sudan and particularly of interventions in the fields of natural resource management and the resource-based conflict prevention.

SOS Sahel Sudan is a legal entity governed by a 45-strong Sudanese General Assembly,13 of whom form the Board of Trustees. Its Chair of Trustees is Mr. Hashim Mohamed Elhassan, Specialist in environmental studies and natural resources management. Its Executive Director is Mr Salih Majid Eldouma, a senior development practitioner with over 19 years of experience in operating programmes across Sudan (with SOS Sahel, Oxfam America and Oxfam GB).
